A 31-year-old Nathalie man and 46-year-old Halifax woman sustained serious injuries following a wreck Saturday night on Route 501, 366 feet south of Route 643.
According to an accident report filed by State Trooper P. W. Leath, Bryan Thomas Short was driving a 1993 Nissan Altima when he crossed over into the Southbound lane of Route 501 and struck a 2001 Toyota 4Runner driven by Ruth Karen Smith-Leigh head on. After impact, the Toyota ran off the right side of the road and overturned down an embankment.
Smith-Leigh’s three male juvenile passengers were also injured.
Charges are pending against Short.
Leath estimated damage to the Nissan at $3,500 and damage to 4Runner at $9,500.
A 41-year-old Raleigh, N.C., man was charged with reckless driving/ failure to maintain proper control following a wreck Friday morning on Route 501, one tenth of a mile south of Route 925. According to an accident report filed by Trooper D. H. Hess, Piero Potenza was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee when he lost control and ran across the road to the right before striking a mailbox and a tree and overturning.
Potenza was not injured.
Hess estimated damage to the Jeep at $4,000 and damage to the mailbox belonging to Ann Crabtree at $50.
A 20-year-old Winston Salem, N.C., man was charged with reckless driving/ failure to maintain proper control following a wreck Monday morning on Route 58 one tenth of a mile west of Route 747.
According to an accident report filed by Trooper B. L. Crews, Jabier L. Noyola was driving 2002 Honda Civic east on Route 58 when he ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and ran across the median before crossing both lanes of west bound Route 58. The Honda ran off the road and struck a mailbox before striking an embankment and overturning.
Noyola sustained serious injuries and was transported.
Crews estimated damage to the Honda at $4,500 and damage to the mailbox owned by Thomas Rathke at $150.
A 23-year-old Danville man was charged with reckless driving/ failure to maintain proper control following a wreck Friday afternoon on Route 58 150 feet west of Wilkins Road.
According to an accident report filed by Tooper A. D. Sargent, Ja’quan Hubbard was driving a 2010 Ford E350 east bound on Route 58 when he ran off the left side of the road into the medium and hit a crossover and a culvert.
Hubbard was not injured.
The Ford was declared a total loss, according to Sargent.
