Program to prepare for life's ending

Mental Health America of Halifax County will sponsor a special program entitled “Love Files” Sunday at 3 p.m. in South Boston Council Chambers on Yancey Street.

According to Irene Gravitt of the Mental Health Office, this program is designed to prepare people for the occurrence of a potential life altering illness or death.

Information will be presented at the Sunday session that will be useful for all ages and will help plan for self, parents and elderly friends and neighbors, Gravitt said urging those in the community to attend.

Speakers include Connie Marvin of Halifax Regional Hospital who will talk about advanced directives and who will have power of attorney in the case of a disability.

Brandon Scearce of Nationwide Insurance will suggest insurance and investment planning opportunities, and Kathy Comer will discuss preplanning arrangements for funerals and cremations.
