A 6-year-old child and her parents were displaced from their home early Friday morning after a fire destroyed their mobile home located at 1018 Thornton’s Road in Nathalie, according to a Red Cross representative.
The family, who rented the home from their grandmother, Lillian Espinosa, was at home at the time of the fire, according to a North Halifax Volunteer Fire Department spokesperson.
The Nathalie home was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene around 5:30 a.m.
North Halifax Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call with two trucks carrying 13 firemen, and Brookneal Volunteer Fire Department responded with three trucks and 12 firemen.
Firemen spent two and a half hours at the fire using roughly 9,000 gallons of water to extinguish the flames.
The spokesman said the amount of damage was unknown, but it was considered a total loss.
The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time, said the fire department spokesman.
The Red Cross is currently assisting the family.
