Two hurt in Friday wreck

Two women sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle wreck that occurred Friday morning at 7:57 a.m. on Highway 58, one mile west of State Route 601 in South Boston.

According to an accident report filed by Virginia State Trooper D. T. Spencer, 70-year-old Katherine Elliott was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt when she traveled across the eastbound lane into the path of a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 driven by 48-year-old Rosetta Dotson of Clarksville.

Both drivers were transported to Halifax Regional Hospital with minor injuries, according to the report.

Damage to the Cobalt was estimated at $2,500, and the S10 pickup was estimated as a total loss.

Spencer charged Elliott with failure to yield the right of way.
