A 29-year-old Harrington, Delaware man was charged with stopping in the highway following a wreck that occurred around 6:28 a.m. Tuesday on Halifax Road, 200 feet north of Old Halifax Road in Centerville.
According to an accident report filed by South Boston Police Sgt. R. D. Edmonds, Brian M. Lee was driving a 1994 Chevrolet truck, and Wayne F. Dawson Jr., 50, of Alton was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer, both traveling north on Halifax Road, when Lee stopped in the roadway to retrieve items that had fallen off the truck. Dawson struck the Chevrolet in the right side rear.
Lee was not injured, but Dawson sustained minor injuries and was transported to Halifax Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.
Edmonds estimated damage to the Chevrolet at $500 and damage to the Ford at $7,000.
A 21-year-old Clover woman was charged with failing to stay to the right of center following a wreck that occurred Friday evening on Highway 57, 100 feet west of Dixon Lane.
According to an accident report filed by Virginia State Trooper J. R. Abbott, Heather D. Brumfield was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus when she crossed over the centerline striking a 2000 Plymouth Breeze driven by 77-year-old Handy S. Gary. The impact caused the Plymouth to strike a tree.
No one was injured. Abbott estimated damage to the Ford at $3,500 and damage to the Plymouth at $2,500.
A 71-year-old Alton woman faces a charge of improper passing following a wreck that occurred Sunday at the intersection of Highway 58 and State Route 751.
According to an accident report filed by Virginia State Trooper L. V. Pambid, Dorothy Lipscomb was driving a 1998 Acura RL and was changing lanes when she was struck by a 1999 GMC Suburban driven by a 16-year-old Virginia Beach juvenile.
Neither driver was injured.
Pambid estimated damage to the Acura at $2,000 and damage to the Suburban at $500.
