Foundation distributes turkeys

The Halifax County Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, with the help of the Good Samaritan in South Boston, has made Thanksgiving more memorable to those in need the past several years with its annual turkey distribution drive.

This year the chapter delivered 36 turkeys to the Good Samaritan on Tuesday, with Good Samaritan set to distribute the turkeys to food kitchens and other missions in the area.

Participating in the turkey give away are (from left) Jimmy Wood of Banister Hill Baptist Church, the Rev. Mike Parnell of Beth Car Baptist Church, Worth Hudson of Good Samaritan, Bill Quackenbush of Good Samaritan, Jean Bradshaw of Good Samaritan, David Vaughan, president and district director of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Logan Murray and Tiffany Irby, both representatives of Food Lion, and Frank Lee of Halifax County Public Schools.
