It’s the Christmas holiday season and downtown South Boston is getting decked out in holiday finery.
The twinkling lights, decorations and music piped onto the street invite the townsfolk and visitors to stroll downtown and slip back in time to Christmas Past, when thoughts of peace and goodwill toward their fellowman and sugarplums filled hearts making people happy, said Destination Downtown South Boston Executive Director Tamyra Vest.
The stage is set for “A Holiday Tradition in Downtown South Boston” — the 27th annual Christmas Open House this Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
The downtown stores will open their doors for customers’ holiday shopping pleasure from 1 to 5 p.m.
Customers can enter to win a $100 downtown gift certificate.
All the merchants welcome visitors during this special holiday event and thank them for shopping local and supporting the community’s economy, Vest said.
Youngsters can have their photographs taken with Santa at Moving Voices The Isadora Duncan Cultural Exchange located at 419A Main Street between the hours of 1 to 4 p.m.
Parents can feel free to bring their own camera and take photos while their children visit with Santa.
The public is invited to help celebrate “A Holiday Tradition in Downtown South Boston” during the 27th annual Christmas Open House Sunday afternoon.
Then on Saturday, Dec. 7, the South Boston Christmas Parade sponsored by Destination Downtown South Boston and Elliott Electric, Inc. will be held at 5 p.m., Vest said.
