A Monday morning fire destroyed the Bethel Road mobile home belonging to Paul Dease, but no one was injured in the blaze.
According to Halifax Volunteer Firefighter Richard Hamlet, the origin of the fire is undetermined.
Dease’s son, Todd, one of Todd’s children and one other person were living in the mobile home at the time of the fire.
Three fire stations, Halifax Volunteer Fire Department, South Boston Fire Department and Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Department worked to bring the blaze under control using 4,000 gallons of water.
Halifax responded with four trucks and 10 firefighters; South Boston Fire Department assisted with one truck and two firefighters; and Scottsburg assisted with one truck and seven firefighters.
Hamlet said no estimate of damage was available Monday afternoon, but the mobile home was declared a total loss.
The American Red Cross is assisting the Dease family.
