No one was hurt, but damages were extensive following a single-vehicle wreck that occurred Friday at 3:50 p.m. on Berry Hill Road in South Boston.
According to investigating South Boston Police Officer A. E. Whitmore, 36-year-old Derrick Lamont Coleman was charged with reckless driving after he told officers he was headed to work and blacked out. When he woke up, he had struck a utility pole and driven his 2007 Isuzu SUV into a garage where two vehicles were parked on Berry Hill Road.
Coleman was wearing his seat belt at the time of the wreck, Whitmore said.
Damage to the Isuzu was estimated at $10,000 and damage to the detached garage and a 2012 Camaro and a 1980 GMC pickup was estimated at $23,000.
