The Halifax County Chamber of Commerce and Halifax County Farm Bureau will cosponsor a Candidates Forum at Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department in Election District 3 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department is located on Oak Level Road in Halifax.
The forum is one of four planned to educate citizens on the candidates’ views on issues and to encourage people to vote on Nov. 5.
Participants will include Board of Supervisors candidates Ray Owen, Arthur Reynolds Sr. and Earl Womack along with incumbent school board member Kim Farson who is running unopposed.
Nick Long, General Manager 95-3 WHLF FM, will be the moderator.
“Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5th. We believe holding the forums during October before the election may help generate interest among voters. The purpose of the forums is to help citizens learn about the candidates views on issues and decide for whom they would like to vote,” said Gray Ramsey, chairman of Halifax Forward, the Chamber’s advocacy committee.
The Chamber and Farm Bureau are pleased to jointly sponsor these events, and encourage their members to vote on Election Day Ramsey said.
“When these two organizations come together, that’s a strong message,” said Nick Long. “These forums are held to help people understand the importance of citizen engagement and the importance of voting. Equally important is understanding what the issues are and where the candidates stand.”
