Two Halifax County young men were transported to Duke University Medical Center for treatment of their injuries following a single-vehicle wreck that occurred early Sunday morning on Highway 58, five-tenths of a mile west of State Route 836.
According to an accident report filed by Investigating Virginia State Trooper D. T. Spencer, 19-year-old Cody A. Spencer of Halifax and 20-year-old Reid T. Roller of Scottsburg were injured in the wreck that occurred at 3:19 a.m.
Spencer was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 when he ran off the road to the left, overcorrected and then struck a tree, the accident report stated.
Neither Spencer nor his passenger, Roller, were wearing seatbelts at the time of the wreck, and Roller was partially ejected from the truck, the trooper said.
Spencer was listed in good condition, and Roller was listed in serious condition Monday afternoon, a Duke University Medical Center spokesperson said.
Charges are pending.
Damage to the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was listed at $4,500, according to the accident report.
