Since rains forced the cancellation of this year’s Independence Day celebration in Scottsburg, organizers said they plan to try again to host the daylong schedule of summer festivities on Saturday, July 27.
Complete with parade kicking off at 10 a.m., the Scottsburg festival will feature events throughout the day including a quarter scale tractor pull, live musical entertainment and plenty of good food and beverages, all sponsored by the Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Culminating the day’s events will be a grand fireworks display, said organizers Rick Gordon and Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Chief Jay Reese.
The summer festival — traditionally held on July 4th — has become an annual event for the community and serves as a major fundraiser usually generating between $15,000 and $20,000 that helps defray departmental operating expenses throughout the year.
