Woman injured in wreck

A 56-year-old Scottsburg woman was injured and taken to Halifax Regional Hospital following a two-vehicle wreck that occurred Tuesday at 7:39 a.m. on State Route 720, two miles south of Highway 360.

According to an accident report filed by Virginia State Trooper D. T. Spencer, Bessie A. Watson was driving a 2004 Dodge Intrepid when 30-year-old Marcus L. Watson ran into her head on while driving a 2007 Ford Focus.

Marcus Watson was not injured, the report stated.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the wreck.

Spencer charged Marcus Watson with DUI.

Damage to the Ford was estimated at $3,500, and damage to the Dodge was estimated at $4,500.

A 44-year-old Lancaster, S.C. man was charged with reckless driving/failure to maintain proper control following a single-vehicle wreck that occurred Sunday at 6 a.m. on Highway 360, five-tenths of a mile west of State Route 610.

According to an accident report filed by Virginia State Trooper J. R. Abbott, Daniel L. Brooks was not injured when the 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport he was driving ran off the road to the right, overcorrected and ran off the road to the left striking a tree.

Brooks was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, the report stated.

Abbott estimated damage to the Mitsubishi at $3,500.
