Saturday graduation 'caps' another year

Halifax County High School’s Class of 2013 Commencement Exercises will get underway Saturday at 9 a.m. in the school’s gymnasium.

Admission is by ticket only, according to HCHS Principal Albert Randolph.

Emily Yun Scott, Julia Wen Scott and Michael James Good will deliver the commencement addresses.

Also included on the program are Senior Class President Briana Sherece Jackson and National Honor Society President Vatsal Pankuj Lal. 

Randolph will recognize the Top 10 seniors, and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Merle P. Herndon and Dr. John J. Cavan, president of Southside Virginia Community College, will recognize seniors who have earned the Associate of Arts and Science degree. 

Herndon and School Board Chairman Kimberly T. Farson will then present diplomas to the graduates.
