Dr. Phillip Ward dies at 65

Dr. Phillip Ward, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Fuller Roberts Clinic in South Boston, was found deceased in his home Tuesday morning.

“It is with a heavy heart, we have lost Dr. Phillip Ward this morning,” said Ward’s office manager, Christy Newton Tuesday.  “We are all shocked to hear this news and are devastated.  We will miss him dearly as we have lost a special member of our Fuller-Roberts family.  Our prayers go out to Dr. Ward’s family.”

The 65-year-old medical examiner and veteran physician specialized in obstetrics and gynecology and had 36 years of practice in the field. 

Highly regarded by his patients, Dr. Ward received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia. 

He completed his residency at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News. 

He joined Fuller-Roberts Clinic in 1977. 

He also served as a former high school wrestling official.

Ward has two sons.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
