Flashing light may save lives

It’s a simple idea, and Vietnam Veterans of America members are bringing this life-saving idea to Halifax County.

The 911 flashing porch light device enables police, EMTs and EMS personnel to locate a home with the flip of a switch.

Frank Szakacs and other Vietnam Veterans of America members are hoping the idea will catch on, and people will buy the $15 adapter that makes the front porch light blink in the event of an emergency or when someone needs help.

“Simply insert the adapter into your porch light socket and return the light bulb to the adapter. By turning your light switch on and off and on again, it will start the light blinking and make it easier for rescue personnel or police to locate the emergency,” Szakacs said.

The adapters can be purchased for $15 from any Vietnam Veteran of America member or contact Szakacs on his cell phone at 908-566-8140 or at home at 572-2980.
