UPDATE: SoBo man injured in four-wheeler wreck dies

A 37-year-old South Boston man died Monday evening from injuries sustained in a 4-wheeler accident that occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday on Beard’s Trail.

According to Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark, Chris Deal of Link-Puryear Road (State Route 705) was airlifted to Duke Medical Center after the 4-wheeler he was operating flipped on private property Sunday night.

A family member said Deal passed away Monday evening after being taken off life support.

Virginia State Trooper D. T. Spencer investigated the 4-wheeler accident.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at True Light Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Sowder and the Rev. Greg Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at True Light Baptist Church and at other times at the home of his parents at 2073 Link-Puryear Road in South Boston.
