Halifax County School Superintendent Dr. Merle Herndon said Thursday she was headed out the door to talk with school employees about personnel changes to go into effect in the upcoming school year.
Reasons for the changes involve “several factors,” according to School Board Chairman Kimberly Farson.
Some of the affected employees are being demoted, moved to another area or are no longer needed for their current positions, she explained.
A little more than $1 million in personnel changes are included in the $57 million budget that school board members approved earlier this week.
“There is always personnel in the budget. We have to adhere to the April 15 deadline,” Farson said referring to the date when school employees are required to sign employment contracts for the upcoming school year.
Herndon declined to comment on the number of employees’ contracts affected explaining she wanted to first notify the employees of the changes.
