Danville man charged in wreck

A 40-year-old Danville man was charged with failing to yield the right of way following a wreck that occurred Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 58 and State Route 939 in South Boston.

According to an accident report filed by State Trooper T. C. Comer, Jimmy L. Cardwell was driving a 2001 Lexus ES300 when he did not yield the right of way and struck in the side a Mitsubishi Gallant driven by 31-year-old Verlinda K. Morfield of Halifax.  

No one was injured.

Comer estimated damage to both vehicles at $2,000 each.

A 21-year-old Clover man was charged with reckless driving/failure to maintain proper control following a wreck that occurred Monday night on Hunting Creek Road, six-tenths of a mile south of Newbill School Road.

According to an accident report filed by Trooper B. L. Crews, John D. Nichols was driving a 2008 Ford Super Duty F350 when he ran off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and ran through a yard at 8019 Hunting Creek Road striking a house and causing debris to strike a 2013 Volkswagen.

Nichols was not injured.

Crews estimated damage to the house, yard and Volkswagen at $25,000 combined. He also estimated damage to the Ford at $2,500.

A 22-year-old Nathalie resident was charged with reckless driving/failure to maintain proper control following a wreck that occurred Wednesday evening on T. N. Snow Road, two-tenths of a mile north of Newbill School Road.

According to an accident report filed by Crews, Susan B. Whitt was driving a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Whitt was injured and transported along with two female juvenile passengers, ages 1 and 3, who sustained minor injuries and 21-year-old Cory L. Smith Sr. who sustained serious injuries.

Crews estimated damage to the Jeep at $3,500.
