Italian Delight restaurant in South Boston last week was named one of 100 businesses across the United States named a 2013 Blue Ribbon Small Business Award winner by the U. S. Chamber of Commerce.
Italian Delight was one of five Blue Ribbon Award winners from the state of Virginia.
This is the second year in a row the local restaurant has garnered this distinction.
“The Blue Ribbon Award winners show that even facing uncertainty and economic challenges, small businesses can grow and succeed,” said Thomas J. Donohue, U. S. Chamber president and CEO. “They are America’s economic engine, driving growth and job creation all across this country.”
All Blue Ribbon recipients will be recognized during America's Small Business Summit, where an overall winner will be announced and will receive one complimentary registration to attend the summit, courtesy of Sam's Club®.
As a Blue Ribbon Award winner again this year, Italian Delight is eligible for the Community Excellence Award, which is designed to highlight a business that has found success in the eyes of its community.
All Blue Ribbon Award winners were eligible for this award that celebrates a small business' commitment to their community. Persons can go to the U. S. Chamber of Commerce website and vote for their favorite Blue Ribbon Winner until Feb. 22 to help them win.
The Community Excellence Award winner will be presented with the award by U.S. Chamber President and CEO during America's Small Business Summit.
The winner also will receive a free two-night hotel stay at the Omni Shoreham Hotel during the Summit.
