Avoiding firing, Meadville Elementary principal resigns

Halifax County School Board members unanimously approved a motion accepting the resignation of former Meadville Elementary School Principal Brenda Tune-Fuller “in lieu of termination” as spelled out in terms set forth in a confidential agreement.

The action came Thursday after board members emerged from behind closed doors following consultations with legal counsel.

In September, Fuller was placed on administrative leave at the end of the same week central office administration made the “administrative decision” to transfer her from Meadville Elementary to the assistant principal position at Cluster Springs Elementary School.

Fuller was notified of the change on Sept. 11 following a Sept. 10 closed-door meeting of administrators and board members.

Prior to being placed on administrative leave, she had been scheduled to begin her new duties at Cluster Springs Elementary on Sept. 17 keeping thesame annual salary she was making as principal at Meadville Elementary.

Former Cluster Springs Associate Principal Marliss Barczak assumed the principal’s position at Meadville Elementary School on Sept. 17.

Following the board’s action Thursday evening, Chairman Kim Farson declined to comment on the matter saying it is a personnel matter.
