Wanted: Library volunteers

The Halifax County South Boston Library System is always looking for volunteers, according to South Boston Library Branch Manager Jessika K. Pettit.

By giving time to the library volunteers can:

Acquire new skills and gain work experience;

 Expand their social group;

 Serve in their own community; and

 Help and be appreciated for it.

The library can use regular volunteers in a variety of ways, from cleaning to organizing donated books, and especially for help in home delivery library service, Pettit said.

The Halifax County/South Boston Library System needs dedicated volunteers to help deliver materials from the library to community members who cannot leave his or her home due to illness, disability or lack of transportation. These individuals can be found throughout Halifax County and may even be a neighbor or family member.

To learn more about volunteering opportunities, come to either library location to fill out a volunteer form and discuss the possibilities, Pettit said.
