Fire damages abandoned house; ruled accidental

A fire that is being described as “accidental” damaged an abandoned house on Lennig Road Saturday shortly after 4 p.m.

According to Triangle Volunteer Fire Chief Rodney Francisco, 10 firefighters and four trucks responded to the structure fire at 1160 Lennig Road in Nathalie.

Firefighters remained on the scene nearly three hours to bring the fire under control in the abandoned house owned by Bill Fields.

Eight firefighters from Liberty Volunteer Fire Department assisted with three trucks.

The house, unoccupied at the time of the fire, was in the process of being torn down, and the cause is being ruled as “accidental,” said Francisco.

After clearing the scene, Triangle was called back later Saturday night when the fire flared up again, the chief said.

No one was injured.
