An 86-year-old South Boston woman was charged with failing to yield the right of way following a two-vehicle wreck that occurred Tuesday afternoon on Highway 501, 100 feet north of State Route 654.
According to an accident report filed by State Trooper D. H. Hess, Shirley E. Shields was driving a 2002 Buick Lesabre when she pulled out in front of a 2000 Chevrolet S10 driven by 31-year-old Nakelia G. Ross of South Boston causing the Chevrolet to strike the Buick in the side.
Shields sustained minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital.
Ross and her passenger, 26-year-old Marnetta L. Medley, both sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital by EMS.
Hess estimated damage to the Chevrolet at $3,500 and damages to the Buick at $3,500.
A 30-year-old Clover woman was charged in a wreck that occurred Wednesday night on John Randolph Boulevard, 50 feet east of Eastover Drive.
According to an accident report filed by South Boston Police Officer T.W. Bush, Susan M. Wood was driving a 1996 Honda Civic, and Rahman S. Muhammad of Raleigh N.C., was driving a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer headed east on John Randolph Boulevard when Wood fell asleep and ran into the right hand lane into the side of the tractor-trailer.
The Honda then overturned and came to rest on its wheels.
No one was injured
Bush charged Wood with reckless driving, driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance.
The Honda was totaled, and Bush estimated damage to the tractor-trailer at $1,500.
A 33-year-old South Boston woman was charged with failure to yield the right of way following a four-vehicle wreck that occurred Wednesday morning at the intersection of Hamilton Boulevard and Parker Avenue.
According to an accident report filed by Officer C. M. Mann, Crystal Stovall was driving a 1998 Ford SUV headed east on Hamilton Boulevard when she made a left turn on to Parker Avenue and failed to yield the right of way to a 2006 Dodge Caravan driven by 37-year-old Jeffery Williams of South Boston. Williams was traveling west on Hamilton Boulevard.
The Ford SUV had an angle collision with the Dodge causing the SUV to hit a 2008 Honda Accord driven by 44-year-old David A. Fisher of Alton who was traveling east on Hamilton Boulevard. The Dodge traveled to the right striking a 2004 Scion driven by 31-year-old Jose G. Torres-Garcia of Scottsburg who was at the stop sign on Parker Avenue.
All parties sustained minor injuries.
Mann estimated damage to the Ford at $4,000, damage to the Dodge at $3,500, damage to the Honda at $3,500 and damage to the Scion at $1,500.
