Halifax woman charged in Friday wreck

A 34-year-old Halifax woman was charged with reckless driving/failure to maintain proper control following a wreck that occurred Monday night on State Route 681, one-tenth of a mile north of State Route 678.

According to an accident report filed by State Trooper J. R. Abbott, Tara R. Hite was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima when she ran off the left side of the road and struck a stump on the side of the road.

No one was injured.

Abbott estimated damage to the Nissan at $2,500.

A 34-year-old Halifax man was charged with driver inattention following a wreck that occurred at the intersection of Halifax Road and Robin Hood Road Friday morning.

According to an accident report filed by South Boston Police Cpl. T.B. White, Michael J. Vanney was driving a 1999 Mazda 626 when he attempted to turn left onto Robin Hood Road from a crossover and struck a 2011 Subaru Tribeca driven by 86-year-old Robert H. Hollister of South Boston.

The Subaru was struck on the driver’s side as Hollister attempted to enter the same crossover to turn onto Arbroath Road from Halifax Road.

No one was injured.

 White estimated damage to the Mazda at  $500 and damage to the Subaru at $2,000.

A 20-year-old Clover man was charged with reckless driving following a two-vehicle wreck that occurred Friday at the intersection of Edmunds Street and Watkins Avenue in South Boston.

According to an accident report filed by Cpl. T. B. White, Lamar H. Green was driving a 2001 Ford Taurus traveling north on Watkins Avenue when he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a 2010 Ford Edge driven by 35-year-old Wendy A. Shotwell of South Boston.

Shotwell was traveling west on Edmunds Street.

No one was injured in the wreck.

White estimated damages to the Ford Taurus at $4,000 and damages to the Ford Edge at $10,000.
