Mystery guest expected to kick off Alton parade

The 31st annual Alton Christmas Parade will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.

Line-up will begin at the Springhill Recreation Club on Harmony Road, and all participants are asked to be there by 10, said Stacey H. Long, parade coordinator.

A bake sale, stew and crafts will be available for sale in the heart of Alton near the Post Office, and plenty of parking will be available at Alton Baptist Church.

“If anyone wants to enter the parade, call Long at 517-1543 or 753-1523.  There is no registration application or fees, and anyone is welcome to enter.

“Bring your automobiles, floats, ATV’s, pets and of course a bag to catch all the candy that will be thrown,” Long said.

Little Miss Alton, Abby Duffer, will lead the parade.

“Hopefully, a surprise guest will be on hand to start the parade as the grand marshal,” Long said, adding, “We are a small community that has a lot of Christmas spirit to share, and we invite you to join us.”
