Halifax woman charged in wreck

A 73-year-old Halifax woman was charged with failure to obey a traffic light following a two-vehicle wreck that occurred Wednesday at 9:53 a.m. at the intersection of Wilborn Avenue and Hamilton Boulevard in South Boston.


According to an accident report filed by South Boston Police Cpl. S. L. Song, Ruth H. Smith was driving a 2010 Lincoln Town Car traveling north on Wilborn Avenue when she failed to stop for a traffic light and struck a 1991 Chevy Corsica driven by 68-year-old Patricia P. Holt of South Boston who was headed west on Hamilton Boulevard.

Holt sustained minor injuries, according to the accident report.

Song estimated damages to the Chevy Corsica at $5,000 and damage to the Lincoln at $12,000.
