Blaze burns trailer, shed, woods in Randolph

A Thursday afternoon fire destroyed a singlewide trailer and storage shed before spreading to a wooded area behind the property of Willard Lloyd on Cove Road.

No one was at home at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported.

According to Triangle Volunteer Fire Department Chief Rodney Francisco, Triangle Volunteer Fire Department was toned out at 3:30 p.m. to the structure and woods fire on 5012 Cove Road. They were assisted by Liberty and Clover fire departments along with the Halifax County Rescue Squad and the Virginia Department of Forestry.

Triangle Volunteer Fire Department responded with three trucks and 10 firefighters, Liberty responded with two trucks and six firefighters and Clover had one truck and five firefighters, said Francisco.

The forestry department brought in bulldozers to keep the fire from spreading.

All fire departments were cleared and had the blaze under control by 7 p.m.

“The fire is still under investigation,” said Francisco.

There was no estimate of damage available.
