Sheriff promotes five employees

Halifax County Sheriff Fred S. Clark on Friday promoted five employees in the sheriff’s office. 

Effective Monday, Oct. 1, Sergeant C. S. Yeatts, Sergeant Q. W. Clark, Corporal D. H. Barksdale and Corporal S. M. Bowen will become shift supervisors over the deputies. 

Corporal T.M. Clark will serve as the supervisor for civil process/courthouse security. 

Together the promoted employees have a combined total of 78 years of service to county citizens. 

Sergeant Yeatts is a lifelong resident of Halifax County having begun his employment with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office in 1995. 

He served as a field deputy in 1997 and was assigned to the Halifax County High School as a school resource officer for several months before coming on the road as a field deputy in 1998. 

Sergeant Q. W. Clark, a lifelong resident of Halifax County, worked eight years as a corrections officer at Mecklenburg Correctional Center prior to coming to work at the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office in 1996. He has 24 years of law enforcement experience. 

Corporal S. M. Bowen, a lifelong resident of Halifax County, began his employment at the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office in 1999. He currently serves as a narcotics canine handler with the patrol division.

Corporal D. H. Barksdale, a lifelong resident of Halifax County, began his employment with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office in 1995. He served as a jailor from 1995 to 1998 and was promoted to patrol in 1998. He currently serves as a narcotics canine handler with the patrol division.  

Corporal T. M. Clark, a lifelong resident of Halifax County, began her employment with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office in 1997. She began as a jailor and was promoted to civil division in 1998. She currently serves as a bailiff in Halifax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
