Former Meadville principal on administrative leave

Former Meadville Elementary School Principal Brenda Tune-Fuller has been placed on administrative leave, Halifax County School Superintendent Dr. Merle Herndon confirmed Friday.

Herndon declined to give a reason Fuller was placed on administrative leave saying it is a personnel matter.

The superintendent also declined to say whether the former Meadville Elementary principal was out on paid or unpaid administrative leave, and she said she also couldn’t comment on how long Fuller would be out on leave.

When contacted Friday, ED-7 School Board member R. K. “Dick” Stoneman said he too was unable to comment on last week’s administrative action because it involved a personnel issue.

Fuller was placed on administrative leave at the end of the same week central office administration made the “administrative decision” to transfer her from Meadville Elementary to the assistant principal position at Cluster Springs Elementary School.

Fuller was notified of the change Tuesday following Monday night’s closed door meeting of school administration and school board members in Halifax.

She had been scheduled to begin her new duties at Cluster Springs Elementary today keeping her same annual salary prior to being placed on administrative leave last week.

Former Cluster Springs Associate Principal Marliss Barczak is scheduled to assume the principal’s position at Meadville Elementary School today.
