A 42-year-old South Boston man was transported to Halifax Regional Hospital where he was treated for his injuries Monday afternoon after a truck ran over him on Broad Street in South Boston.
According to a report filed by South Boston Police Cpl. M. W. Bowen, Charles G. Moore was injured when he tried to stop his 1981 Chevrolet pickup truck from rolling down a hill.
Bowen said Moore had parked the truck on a hill in front of South Boston Tees and engaged the park brake.
However, when the park brake failed, the truck began to roll down the hill and Moore was attempting to stop the truck from behind when it ran over him.
The accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m., and South Boston Fire Department firefighters and Halifax County Rescue Squad responded to the scene along with South Boston Police Cpl. Bowen.
Damage to the Chevrolet truck was estimated at $100.
An 80-year-old Randolph man was charged with failure to yield the right of way following a two-vehicle wreck that occurred Sunday morning on Wilborn Avenue in South Boston, 200 feet north of Greenway Drive.
According to an accident report filed by Cpl. Bowen, Walter L. Tuck pulled from Hupps Mill Plaza in a 2002 Buick LeSabre turning left when he hit the right side front bumper of a 2011 Nissan Titan driven by 34-year-old Christina L. Fuqua.
Tuck, who did not have the right of way, struck the Titan as he traveled north on Wilborn Avenue, Bowen said.
No one was injured in the wreck.
Damage to the Nissan was estimated at $1,500, and damage to the Buick was estimated at $5,000.
