Damages were estimated at $50,000 in the Sunday afternoon fire that damaged a single-story vinyl-sided frame house located at 1726 Norwood Ave. in South Boston.
South Boston Fire Chief Steve Phillips said the home, owned by Cornelius Brandon, suffered heavy smoke and heat damage with most of the fire damage being contained to the living room in the front of the house.
The cause of the fire still remains undetermined, Phillips said, noting South Boston Police Cpl. C. L. Carswell is continuing an investigation into the fire.
Phillips said no one was inside the home at the time of the fire, and neighbors reported the blaze to the fire department.
No one was injured, the fire chief said.
When firefighters arrived on the scene around 2:30, smoke was billowing from the house.
