Halifax teenager charged with reckless driving in Sunday wreck

A 19-year-old Halifax teen was charged with reckless driving/failure to maintain proper control following a wreck that occurred Sunday morning on State Route 803, nine-tenths of a mile east of State Route 716.

According to an accident report filed by State Trooper B. L. Crews, Dre’Donte L. Tucker was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger when he ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment and overturned at 1:50 a.m.

Tucker sustained minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital, but his passenger, 21-year-old Taronn A. Ballou, was slightly injured and transported to the hospital.

Crews estimated damage to the Ranger at $7,500.

A 34-year-old Scottsburg man was injured and transported to the hospital following a single-vehicle wreck that occurred Monday morning on Route 344, seven-tenths of a mile west of State Route 716.

According to State Sgt. C. W. Owen, Draper A. Green was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer headed west on Route 344 when he struck a deer that entered the roadway. Green ran off the right side of the road and overturned striking a tree.

Owen estimated damage to the Blazer at $3,500.
