Motorcycle rider dies after Sunday morning accident

A 61-year-old Nathalie resident died Sunday morning at Roanoke Memorial Hospital from injuries he received in a two-vehicle wreck earlier in Halifax County.

Virginia State Trooper D.T. Spencer reported the wreck occurred at 12:55 a.m. Sunday when a motorcycle operated by Randy Blake Anderson was struck in the rear by a 1997 Honda Civic operated by 21-year-old Anthony Beadles of South Boston, while Anderson was attempting to make a right hand turn from Route 626 (Clarkton Road) onto Route 644 (Stoney Ridge Road).

Anderson was thrown approximately 15 feet upon impact and landed in a grassy area alongside the road, according to Spencer.

Anderson was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:06 a.m. Sunday morning, the state trooper added.

Spencer estimated $5,000 damage to the motorcycle and $2,500 damage to the car driven by Beadles.

The wreck is under investigation and charges are pending, according to Spencer’s report.
