Fire causes $40,000 in damage to Mountain Road home

A Friday evening house fire caused $40,000 damage to Ann Spangler’s home on 3100 Mountain Road in Halifax, according to a Halifax Volunteer Fire Department spokesman.

Halifax Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire with four trucks and 14 firefighters.  Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department with three trucks and four firefighters along with several members of South Boston Fire Department and Halifax County Rescue Squad personnel also responded to the fire, according to the spokesman.

The spokesman said firemen were on scene for over an hour before bringing the blaze under control. 

No one was at home at the time of the fire and no one was injured, according to the fire department spokesman who added the cause of the fire is still undetermined and remains under investigation.
