Congressman visits local businesses

Congressman Robert Hurt visited local businesses in Halifax County Wednesday continuing his Route 58 Tour.

The 5th District congressman stopped at the new Halifax Visitors Center, Gene’s Orange Market, Aquatic Bathware, Annin Flagmakers, R. O. Harrell Inc, Hudson Farms and Anthony Powell Farms during his trek through the county Wednesday.

“Visiting places like Annin is great for us because it reminds us of how it is to adopt common sense policies in Washington that will make it easier for businesses like Annin so they can grow and create jobs,” Hurt said following his visit to Annin Flagmakers.

Hurt had the opportunity see the process of flag making as he took a tour of the factory led by Director of Operations Gary Gibson.

He also had the opportunity to have a one on one with Sewing Manager Ronnie Coble discussing the ends and outs of factory business in the United States and overseas.

Hurt introduced himself to workers as he passed their stations at the flag company Wednesday afternoon.
