After receiving approval for her retirement at the May 14 Halifax County School board meeting, Executive Director for Administration Valdivia Marshall has decided to reassess her decision.
After careful consideration and several conversations with family members and friends, Marshall has decided to remain with the school system and not to retire, she said Thursday.
“I enjoy my work…I am confident and at peace about the decision. I have decided not to retire,” said Marshall.
Marshall is eager to work with the new superintendent, Dr. Merle Herndon, and although she doesn’t know her plans, expects to remain in her role as Executive Director for Administration and oversee federal programs when deemed necessary.
“I’m excited about it and eager for next year,” Marshall said.
