Ebony Guy’s grandmother, the late Cora Tucker, would be proud. Earlier this month on Saturday, May 5, the Halifax native had an opportunity to meet and greet President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama in Richmond.
Guy was one of 20 individuals who met with the 44th President prior to the first official campaign rally in the Stuart C. Siegel Center at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Following in her grandmother’s footsteps, Guy has been very passionate about speaking up for those who can’t speak for themselves.
Cora Tucker died in June, 1997, but she left behind a legacy of community awareness and the strong will and drive to help improve conditions for all citizens of Halifax County.
Now a decade and a half later, the mother of one is continuing the work of her grandmother and is now working to help Obama win reelection in the November election.
Guy said one thing her grandmother taught her was to be strong.
“No matter what problems you may face and no matter what comes your way, you just have to be strong,” she explained.
