Search down to two for superintendent in Halifax

Halifax County School Board members have narrowed the search for the school system’s next superintendent down to two applicants.

According to superintendent search committee representative R. K. “Dick” Stoneman, the preliminary interviews were completed Friday.

“We have narrowed it down to two applicants, and we are pretty satisfied. We’ll interview them again depending on their work schedule, and then the rest is legal, contracts and negotiations,” said Stoneman.

Although Stoneman wouldn’t say where the applicants currently live, he said, “The county can’t go wrong with either one.”

Both candidates demonstrate the skills wanted by the general public, have experience and have great personalities, Stoneman said, adding, “They are just that good.”

The board members anticipate announcing the new superintendent by June 1, if not sooner, he said.
