Gazette-Virginian launches new website

Today, The Gazette-Virginian launched a new online experience:

It’s more than just a facelift on a website. It’s a vision and commitment to bringing the best coverage of Halifax County to the digital world. 

And we’re going to do just that. compiles the top news, sports and features into a simple and elegant design. The top of the page contains the latest news stories. Toward the middle, there’s a new category-style listing for news, sports and community articles — all designed to showcase the latest headlines in an easy-to-read format. Want more news? Check out the menus at the top for a full listing of stories.

But there’s more to it than just the looks. We now offer an updated calendar of events to help our readers better see what’s happening in the community. Also, there’s a way to interact with stories with a new commenting feature, so feel free to share your view and start a conversation. is another step for The Gazette in embracing tomorrow’s technology. In January, we debuted Digital GV — an online replica of the printed edition. It’s like reading the regular newspaper, without getting ink all over your hands. We have more than 70 subscribers who receive this new electronic edition.
