Former Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin, who was sentenced last October in Halifax County Circuit Court to 10 months in jail for five counts of embezzlement, was released Wednesday from a Meherrin River Jail Authority facility in Boydton, according to Sgt. D. Lett.
Noblin, who formerly sat on the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority board while he was Halifax County sheriff, served his time on work release in the Mecklenburg County detention facility.
Judge Leyburn Mosby Jr. sentenced Noblin to three years in prison for each of the five embezzlement charges in October, suspending two years and 10 months on each charge for an active jail term of 10 months.
Mosby also ordered Noblin to pay $103,930.38 restitution at a rate of $1,000 per month, with the full amount of restitution paid within seven years he is on probation.
According to court records, Noblin has paid $9,501.10 in restitution to date.
