Van flips Friday afternoon

An 89-year-old South Boston man was involved in a single-vehicle wreck that occurred shortly before noon Friday in the 3000 block of Old Grubby Road.

According to Virginia State Trooper K. R. Martin, Wallace Terry was driving a 1994 Chevrolet van when he ran off the left side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned.

Terry was transported to the hospital where he was treated.

No charges were filed.

Martin declared the Chevrolet a total loss.

A 26-year-old Orlando, Fla. man was charged with making an unsafe lane change following a two-vehicle wreck Thursday evening at the intersection of John Randolph Boulevard and Ash Avenue in South Boston.

According to an accident report filed by South Boston Police Sgt. R. D. Edmonds, Scott J. Wolford was driving a 2013 Dodge Challenger and 41-year-old Heather R. Winters of South Boston was driving a 2008 Honda Civic, both heading east on John Randolph Boulevard, when Wolford decided to get into the left lane to make a left turn and cut in front of Winters causing the Honda to strike the Dodge in the rear.

No one was injured.

Edmonds estimated damage to both the Honda and the Dodge at $3,000.
