South Boston Speedway, along with area motels and restaurants, are gearing up for what’s expected to be thousands of race fans descending on Halifax County Thursday for the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown.

National Day of Prayer to celebrate 10th anniversary

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the National Day of Prayer event when thousands gather all across the country to unite in prayer as they worship God on the National Day of Prayer. On Thursday, May 1, at 6:45 p.m. at the Halifax County High School auditorium, hundreds of locals will gather to observe the National Day of Prayer, “1 Voice, 1 Day, May 1.”
