Halifax County Board of Supervisors will hold a joint meeting with South Boston and Halifax town councils to hear three presentations tonight beginning at 6 in the second floor conference room of the Mary Bethune office complex in Halifax.
Tim Vest is on tap for the first presentation involving state park activities at Staunton River State such as the Dark Sky Initiative and other park programs.
The second presentation will recognize scenic river designation for Banister River, and the third presentation from County Library Board Chairman Bee Espy will update supervisors and council members on joint library board meetings.
Following the joint meeting with council, supervisors will reconvene to adopt a revised resolution to opt out of the Virginia Retirement System Local Disability Program.
The resolution supervisors approved earlier this month did not satisfy requirements of the VRS to permit it to be accepted, according to County Administrator Jim Halasz, so the minor changes requested by the VRS have been added, and the board must approve the resolution.
At the conclusion of the board meeting, supervisors are expected to go into closed session if needed, Halasz said.
