Halifax County Planners to hold hearing on beauty shop, school

Halifax County Planning Commission members will hold a public hearing Tuesday at 7 p.m. on a conditional use permit application request from Barbara Tucker to locate a beauty shop and school at a site located adjacent to 9044 James D. Hagood Highway, approximately one and a half miles east of its intersection with Scottsburg Road.

The meeting will be held in the second floor public meeting room at the Mary Bethune office complex in Halifax.

Following the hearing, Planning and Zoning Director Robbie Love will update planners on a conditional use permit that supervisors approved for Gary Chesbro to operate a taxidermy shop specializing in fish only at 2070 Grubby Road, approximately 1.3 miles west of its intersection with Sinai Road in ED-3 and on a request for a conditional use permit from Mary R. Mayberry that was denied to operate a tire shop and repossession business adjacent to 2170 Cedar Grove in ED-6.

Planners will hear a staff report and discuss unfinished and new business before adjourning until their next meeting set for Jan. 22 at 7 p.m.
