The controversial Local Option Retirement Plan (LORP) is among the items slated for discussion Thursday evening when Halifax County School Board members hold an information work session at 5:30 p.m. in the public meeting room at Mary Bethune Complex in Halifax.
In addition to LORP, other items on the agenda to be discussed include employee sick leave, vacation leave and health insurance renewal as it pertains to the budget.
According to Vice Chairman Kimberly Farson, the presentation is expected to answer questions on how these items are impacting the budget.
Superintendent Dr. Merle Herndon said Monday she will present a PowerPoint presentation to the board on the items listed on the agenda.
“It’ll be something like a PowerPoint presentation, very informative. It’ll be a look at the whole picture. To my knowledge, there will be no closed session and no issues to take action on,” said Farson.
The superintendent confirmed Monday the entire meeting is expected to be conducted in open session.
