Halifax man convicted of four felonies

A 26-year-old Halifax man, Quinn Theadon Tucker, was convicted Wednesday in Halifax County Circuit Court of five offenses, four of them felonies, following a bench trial.

Guilty plea in officer assault

Kenneth William Mack Sr., a 45-year-old Durham, N.C., resident, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Halifax County Circuit Court to felony assault on a law enforcement officer and three other charges related to a traffic stop in Halifax on May 10, 2012.

Danville man faces drug charge after second arrest

A 31-year-old Danville man is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail with no bond after authorities arrested him Wednesday night on a drug charge.

Former coach sentenced on wire fraud charges

Brookneal resident Thomas Patric Boggs, a former AAU coach and mentor to a local college basketball star, received a 57-month sentence for one count of wire fraud Tuesday in United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia in Lynchburg, according to Brian McGinn of the U.S. Department of Justice.
