Residents warned to beware of scam

Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating scams reported in the community over the past three weeks.

Alton man faces felony drug charges

A 29-year-old Alton man faces two felony charges of distributing a controlled substance, was issued a felony capias for violating his probation and a misdemeanor surety capias. Christian Lante McDougald of Storys Creek Road also faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Man faces grand larceny, burglary charges

A 22-year-old Vernon Hill man faces two felony charges of burglary with intent and grand larceny, according to South Boston Police Department records.

A 19-year-old Nathalie man faces two felony charges of grand larceny, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Man sentenced for carnal knowledge

A 19-year-old Halifax man, Onzai Sharocki Logan, was sentenced Thursday in Halifax County Circuit Court to three years in prison, with all but seven months suspended, for having carnal knowledge of a child 13 years of age or older, but younger than 15 years of age.

A 53-year-old Nathalie man faces 10 indictments following his arrest Wednesday, according to South Boston Police Department records.

Attempted robbery probed
