Police seek leads in death of Virgilina hunting dogs

Halifax County authorities continue to offer a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for killing four hunting dogs in the Virgilina community.

No arrests have been made, and authorities are seeking help from the public concerning the shooting deaths of dogs killed on Dec. 6, Dec. 12 and Dec. 26.

According to Chief Animal Control Officer Todd Moser, all the dead dogs were found in the 7100 block of Red Bank Road in Virgilina.

Anyone with information related to the dog killings is asked to contact Halifax County Crime Line at 434-476-8445. 

Information will be taken in strictest confidence, and the person’s identity will be protected. Anyone offering information will not have to give their name but will be given a code number, authorities said. 

The tip code should be kept private and not shared with anyone.  

Anyone having more information on the tip can call Crime Line back and give use the confidential tip code number when providing additional information.
