Six 4-wheelers and an RTV side-by-side stolen from different residences in Halifax County between Nov. 23 and Jan. 15 have been recovered, and two county men face charges in connection with the thefts, according to Halifax County Sheriff Fred S. Clark.
Acting on a citizen’s tip, Lt. Mike Womack and Inv. Jeff Burton were able to confiscate a Kubota RTV 9,000 side-by-side, a 2008 Suzuki LTR 450, one 2007 Kawasaki, a 2001 Honda 300, a 2004 Kawasaki 700, a 2003 Honda Ranch and a 2011 Yamaha Grizzly 700.
The investigation led authorities into North Carolina, as far away as Morehead City to recover these items, Clark said.
According to the sheriff, the combined total value of the 4-wheelers and RTV is $36,200.
Arrested were 29-year-old Robert Lee Moore of Crystal Hill and 23-year-old Blake Carden Crews of Halifax.
Both men have been charged with three counts of grand larceny and are being held at the Blue Ridge Adult Detention Center with no bond, Clark confirmed.
The investigation is continuing, and more charges are expected.
The sheriff expressed appreciation to county citizens and North Carolina authorities who assisted in this investigation.
